Since 1996, SPAR’s sponsorship of European Athletics has delivered an elevated level of exposure for the brand. At this year’s Cross Country Championships, being held on 12 December, 760 athletes from 40 countries will compete.

After a one-year hiatus due to the pandemic, this year marks the 27th edition of the SPAR European Cross Country Championships.

The event will take place on the purpose-built cross country course at the Sport Ireland Campus in Fingal-Dublin. The Irish weather conditions may provide different challenges than the athletes experienced in Lisbon in 2019.

2021 will be the second time Dublin is hosting the prestigious event, following the 2009 SPAR European Cross Country Championships in Santry, a suburb on the northside of Dublin.

As principal sponsor of the Cross Country Championships, SPAR will have a strong brand presence at the event. The strong brand visibility will be highlighted through television broadcasting and via live streaming, sportscasters, sports publications, and social media coverage of the event.

The 2021 Championships will mark a first for the event with the Irish broadcaster RTÉ set to broadcast all seven races live for what is sure to be a thrilling day of athletics action at Fingal-Dublin 2021. Starting with the U20’s and ending with the senior athletes in cross-country competition from across Europe, this promises to be another great event.
