“SPAR South Africa recognises the transformative power of sport to inspire and empower women,” said Mpudi Maubane, SPAR PR, Communications and Sponsorship Manager, SPAR South Africa. “We believe in creating opportunities for women to participate in physical activity, challenge themselves, and achieve their goals. Our involvement in women’s road running, including the SPAR Grand Prix Series, aligns with our sponsorship pillars: nutrition, education, and women empowerment.”
This year’s SPAR Women’s Challenge theme, #ChooseYou, embodies the essence of the series. Whether a seasoned runner striving for a personal best or a first-timer seeking a fun day out with friends, runners of all levels can take part. There are 12,000 places available with online registration now open while instore registration opens on 5 August.
The launch event featured a panel discussion with renowned athletes, including Olympic athletes Cian Oldknow and Rutendo Nyahora, previous Olympian Rene Kalmer, and Paralympic Gold Medalist Louzanne Coetzee. These inspiring women shared their journeys, motivating aspiring runners to embrace the #ChooseYou spirit.
Proceeds from the entry fee per person will benefit Headstart Kids, the Smile Foundation, and Reach for Recovery. This year marks the 33rd edition of the SPAR Women’s Challenge Jozi – a celebration of female participation in sports and community spirit.
