DESPAR Centro Sud has redesigned its website to offer customers new content and services with a smarter navigation setup. Its user-friendly environment provides a customer-centric experience to better meet shopper needs, in line with the latest trends.

The DESPAR Centro Sud website offers users numerous ways to stay in touch with the SPAR Brand in a convenient way. Users can easily find nearby SPAR stores thanks to the geolocalisation feature, and the site is designed with a mobile-first system. Moreover, promotional flyers can be downloaded or viewed online and in the app.

On DESPAR.com, a prominent link on the homepage provides access to the e-commerce platform DESPAR a Casa. This virtual supermarket was launched in 2019 and has seen a 25% increase in sales over the last year.

DESPAR a Casa allows customers to order their shopping online through the website or the DESPAR app for Android and iOS. This e-commerce service offers both click-and-collect and home delivery options, reducing the time spent instore and limiting contact points.

The new site also highlights DESPAR Centro Sud’s responsible retailing initiatives, confirming the commitment of SPAR towards its local communities.

A dedicated gaming section features the company’s many gaming initiatives, including popular and valued social media competitions. For those who love cooking, a cookbook series collects the most delicious recipes created in partnership with Michelin-starred chefs.

SPAR’s focus on technology also continues during the shopping journey in brick-and-mortar SPAR stores, thanks to various partnership agreements that are listed in the Services section.

Among the new features, mobile payments are made available through the Satispay app in DESPAR Centro Sud supermarkets. Moreover, customers can order their photos prints online on the Photosì website and collect them at a SPAR Centro Sud supermarket of their choice.

“We want to be even more closer to our customers. For this reason we have invested in our new website, which is now even more functional and accessible from any device. Technology also has the power of making us feel closer, despite the physical distance that we must keep nowadays”, explains Pippo Cannillo, President and CEO of DESPAR Centro Sud.

About SPAR Italy

SPAR Italy was first granted the licence to operate the SPAR Brand in 1959. The first store opened in 1960, and with it, SPAR became the first partnership of retailers and wholesalers to operate in the country. SPAR Italy, known locally as DESPAR Italia, licenses regional partners, all of whom work together to grow the brand across the country.

The DESPAR Partners operate stores under three formats: DESPAR Neighbourhood Supermarkets, EUROSPAR Supermarkets, and INTERSPAR Hypermarkets. Many of the larger format stores are company-owned, reflecting the scale of investment required. While the majority of the company’s turnover is acquired through these larger format stores, the independently owned neighbourhood supermarkets remain a key part of the business.
