European Athletics Championships 2022 in Munich proudly sponsored by SPAR

July 11, 2022 IN THE CATEGORY: Sport sponsorship

SPAR is again the principal sponsor of the biennial European Athletics Championships, which will be held in Munich, from 15 -21 August 2022. This key event on the Athletics calendar is the showcase of the very best that the continental branch of the sport has to offer, and this year about 1,450 top athletes from 47 territories will compete in the Olympic Stadium, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

The European Athletics Championships are an integral part of the second edition of the European Championships following the inaugural Championships 2018 in Berlin/Glasgow. This year, nine European Championships will take place under one roof from 11-21 August 2022 – athletics, beach volleyball, canoe sprint, sport climbing, cycling, gymnastics, rowing, table tennis and triathlon.

The European Championships programme has been revamped and extended to include four new sports as well as para competitions in canoe sprint and rowing, bringing even greater diversity to an already varied sports programme.

The 16 Paralympic competitions in canoe sprint and rowing are an integral part of the multi-sport event and are included in the official medal table. During the nine days of the Championships medals will be handed out across 176 events.

SPAR has been principal sponsor of European Athletics since 1996. We are delighted to be back in Munich 20 years after the European Athletics Championships were held in this same impressive stadium in August 2002. Much has changed in sport and sponsorship during the past twenty years, but SPAR’s support for European Athletics has not. Through this sponsorship, SPAR organisations have access to a set of tools which can be integrated into all communication and marketing platforms, reflecting the role which SPAR has as principal sponsor.
