SPAR Slovenia modernise INTERSPAR Europark Maribor

November 9, 2023 IN THE CATEGORY: Store openings

SPAR Slovenia reopened its fourth largest store, the INTERSPAR hypermarket in the Europark Maribor shopping centre. The revamped store provides customers with an extensive assortment, eco-friendly upgrades, and SPAR's online service offering.

The updated INTERSPAR store offers a diverse range of departments with local products. Awaiting customers at the entrance is the cosmetics, household items, textiles, toys, and cleaning products area. Customers then pass by a SPAR bakery featuring fresh goods from a wood pellet stove and self-service racks. The butcher offers domestic and global meat, including matured meat and custom products. There is also a hot food section and a fish market with various options available.

In the centre of the store is a market with seasonal produce, package-free items, and an island including a sushi bar, new registers, shelves, and refrigeration units. At the exit, chilled drinks and a well-stocked SPAR To Go selection with salads, sandwiches, and desserts are available. Quick checkout with eight registers is provided, and outside, a smoothie bar offers unique, refreshing drinks.

SPAR Slovenia introduced online grocery shopping with home delivery and personal pickup at the Drive-In point in Maribor, Ptuj, and nearby areas via SPAR Online as part of the branch renovation. Customers can easily choose products on the website, including refrigerated and frozen items, and pick a 2-hour delivery window. This renovated INTERSPAR focuses on sustainability with energy-efficient LED lighting and waste heat usage. The return packaging system in the parking garage supports a circular economy.

The opening programme for the SPAR hypermarket spanned several days and featured a ribbon cutting, DJ entertainment, sweet surprises, free tastings, children’s workshops, and a musical performance.
