SPAR Slovenia has joined the Plastic Free July initiative, a global movement to reduce single-use plastics, and declared July its month of sustainability. The SPAR country operator teamed up with the Ecologists Without Borders association and Slovenian actor and presenter Nik Škrlec. Part of their initiative is to introduce people to environmental protection in a relaxed way and motivate them to act sustainably.

Social media activities

During the month of July, SPAR Slovenia has shared useful tips, suggestions, and challenges on sustainable living via a dedicated website and its social media platforms, including Instagram and Facebook. Followers and customers are encouraged to see Sustainability Month at SPAR as an opportunity to think about sustainable behaviour and eco-friendly lifestyles, as we can only create a better tomorrow together.

‘Together for less plastic’ initiative

Sustainable behaviour and environmental protection are key pillars of SPAR Slovenia’s strategic priorities. Under the slogan ‘Together for less plastic’, the SPAR operator continues to introduce innovative technologies and eco-friendly materials in SPAR and INTERSPAR stores nationwide.

A special focus is on reducing plastic waste, which is why the company is introducing sustainable and recyclable packaging for its own brand products. Customers are also encouraged to bring and reuse their own packaging.

In most SPAR Slovenia stores, customers can return various bottles via Tomra vending machines, supporting a circular economy. In some stores, shoppers can find an extensive range of products without packaging or through dispenser solutions.
