SPAR Slovenia further invested in retail network

April 16, 2024 IN THE CATEGORY: Store openings

SPAR Slovenia further invested in the retail development of its store network, with two new stores and one renovated store opening in February and March.

Growing convenience in Slovenij Gradec

After ten months of construction work, Slovenj Gradec welcomed a new SPAR Supermarket, the second to open in the town. The new SPAR store has a sales area of approximately 1,156m2. The total investment by SPAR Slovenia was EUR 1.7 million.

Instore, customers can find an extensive offer of grocery and non grocery items. This includes a great fresh offer of fruit and vegetables, a dedicated ready-made meal section, a large bakery, a butchery and a fish market. Local products are also at the forefront, with space set aside for products from Slovenian producers.

The store combines a modernised appearance incorporating sustainable solutions which characterise SPAR Slovenia’s stores. LED lighting and a modern heating and cooling system using 100% natural CO2 gas reflect the brand’s sustainability focus.

A team of 24 full-time colleagues are responsible for the daily running of this store. To reflect the community spirit of the brand, SPAR Slovenia dedicated EUR 3,000 to local causes at the opening.

Independent retailer in Majšperk

In February, SPAR Slovenia’s second independent retailer-run store was opened in Majšperk. The 700m2  SPAR store has a modern appearance, is focused on customer convenience, and offers a wide selection of food products, including SPAR Own Brand as well as a great fresh assortment. Energy saving features such as LED lighting have been installed to reduce electricity consumption. A team of 7 colleagues running the store add to a pleasant shopping atmosphere.

Reopened SPAR store

SPAR Slovenia has operated a store in Novo mesto, in Žabja vas, for 21 years. In March, the store reopened after two months of extensive renovations. The renovations required investment of EUR 2.8 million, ensuring a comprehensive interior refit. Spread over an area of 1,811m2 and run by 26 colleagues, customers can find a quality offer and enjoy a pleasant shopping experience.

During modernisation, great attention was paid to the fresh departments. There is a fruit and vegetable department featuring local products, a bakery, a butchery section and a fish market. Fresh food-to-go products are available in a dedicated area. For customers convenience, four self checkouts are now available. LED lighting, closed refrigerators and freezers reflect that sustainability is at the forefront of the company. This is also reflected by SPAR Slovenia dedicating EUR 3,000 to local causes.
