February 10, 2022 IN THE CATEGORY: Store openings

In line with their growth strategy for 2022-2027, SPAR Pakistan has opened a fourth store in Karachi – this time in the Phase 8 DHA neighbourhood. This is the second store to be opened in the city by the retailer within six months. The 1,200m2 SPAR Supermarket has created 70 new jobs, providing opportunities for people seeking a career in food retail.

Neighbourhood retailing

The SPAR Supermarket welcomed over 3,000 customers within the first week of operation. Residents have responded positively to the new store, which offers more than 10,000 products. For 85% of the customers visiting the supermarket in the first week, this was their first experience shopping at a SPAR store.

The official opening was carried out by the Sri Lankan Trade Minister, Honorable Dr Bandula Gunawardhana. The Minister was in the country on state business and kindly agreed to support the opening. He was given a tour of the new supermarket by SPAR Pakistan COO Ahsan Yahya. The public opening took place on 28 January, with awareness created through both online and local messaging.

Local convenience

This newly developed neighbourhood in Karachi offers a wealth of services to residents, and a local supermarket of this scale is a great addition. Customers of SPAR Pakistan’s latest store can choose from a wide variety of fresh, ambient, and non-food products. In addition to the range of high-quality, value for money grocery products, SPAR offers customers the convenience of an instore pharmacy.

SPAR Pakistan is a strong supporter of local entrepreneurs and suppliers, with 75% of the total instore offer being sourced domestically. The remaining product offering is secured through the global SPAR network.
