The 3,344m2 hypermarket introduces a fantastic new shopping experience to the neighbourhood of Anna Nagar, the prime residential and commercial hub in Chennai where the shopping mall is located. Using a customer-centric approach with exciting new instore technologies, the store is setting a new benchmark in Chennai’s retail landscape.
Commenting on the launch, Mr. Rajeev Krishnan, CEO of SPAR India, said: “The experiences we have had in Chennai since opening our first store there have been wonderful. The love and loyalty of our customers has always left us humbled. We are delighted to launch our second SPAR Hypermarket in Chennai, based on our latest store design concept. We look forward to serving our customers by providing them with a great shopping experience and better value.’’
The hypermarket’s departments include: Wonder Years, an exclusive kids area with some hands-on technologies; Grandma’s Corner, which showcases traditional Indian dishes; SPAR Kitchen, which brings together more than 20 local and global cuisines; and Freshly, an innovative fruit and vegetable section. The assortment of 20,000 products includes fresh produce, fish, meat, dry groceries, home and living products, and clothing.
SPAR India has developed a multichannel approach, with various services being available on its website and through its SPAR mobile app. By integrating modern and traditional marketing channels, the partner has achieved high levels of brand engagement and customer loyalty.
Its instore technologies include self-checkout counters and self-assist touchscreens, helping customers navigate the store and find useful information both online and offline.
The launch of the SPAR Hypermarket at the VR mall was promoted across all of SPAR India’s communication channels. A traditional dance marked the grand opening and the whole event was covered by a popular radio DJ, live from the SPAR store.
