SPAR Hungary wins prestigious industry awards

The excellence of several SPAR stores and products in Hungary has been acknowledged with prestigious industry awards. SPAR Hungary has won Store Insider's ‘Shop of the Year’ competition in two categories and received the ‘Fresh Meat Product Retailer of 2022’ award.

‘Shop of the Year’ competition

SPAR Hungary received three awards at the 8th national  ‘Shop of the Year’ competition, organised by Store Insider magazine. The new SPAR store in Budapest’s Etele Plaza won in the supermarket category, while the newly built INTERSPAR store in Kaposvár received the prestigious award in the large supermarket category. SPAR Hungary also won the ‘Fresh Meat Product Retailer of 2022’. The ‘Shop of the Year 2022’ competition awards stores offering premium quality food products and the most outstanding retail units.

Winning innovative products

SPAR’s innovative products have also received several awards. At Store Insider magazine’s ‘Best Innovative Brand’ competition, SPAR’s Szafi free baguette won the ‘Best Innovative Brand 2022’ in the food subcategory. SPAR’s S-Budget Rudi (a dessert made of curd cheese coated in cocoa) finished third in the milk-based roll category at the ‘Szupermenta Túrórúdi’ product test, organised by the National Food Chain Safety Office.

SPAR’s Zero protein bars, protein pancake powders, and the Premium fish fillet products were amongst the winners chosen by the judges at the ‘Inno d’Or – Innovation of the Year’ competition organised by Trade Magazine. A total of 30 submissions were selected as winners, all of which presented an innovative product in their own category.

Weekly women’s magazine Nők Lapja organised a Food Awards competition for the very first time. SPAR’s ‘free-from’ frozen, gluten- and lactose-free dumpling with curd cheese filling, and the S-Budget salty sticks won awards in their categories based on customer votes. In the gluten-free subcategory, the 300g SPAR free from frozen, gluten, and lactose-free dumpling with cottage cheese filling was the favourite.

Awarded promotional campaigns

SPAR Hungary’s ‘Hey Clay and Plush’ promotion became first at Trade Magazine’s 14th ‘The Best Promotion Campaign of the Year’ competition.
