The newly opened SPAR Supermarket in the Allure Residence in Budapest features a condensed retail area but offers the same extensive range as larger SPAR Supermarkets in the country. SPAR Hungary has invested more than €1.2 million in the store. 20 team members were offered employment for this store. The SPAR Supermarket has a strong focus on fresh, including a large fresh offering, a delicatessen counter, and a spectacular bakery department. Convenience also takes centre stage, offering both cold and warm to-go products.

Following an investment of more than €1.1 million, a new SPAR Supermarket was opened in Sopron on 17 June. The new store is in the north-western part of town, between a residential area and Sopron University. The store employs 29 team members. It has been designed according to SPAR Hungary’s latest design concept, featuring an extensive choice of fresh produce offered in market style and a large selection of convenience and baked goods near the entrance.

Refurbishments

As part of its ongoing modernisation programme, SPAR Hungary has redesigned the SPAR Supermarket in the town of Mosonmagyaróvár. A total of €1.7 million was invested in updating and enlarging the fresh food department, including signage to highlight locally sourced products, coolers for convenience products, and an expanded bakery department. SPAR Hungary replaced all furniture and equipment to achieve an appealing store design and instore transparency. Self-checkouts were installed and energy-saving LED technology installed and an eco-friendly heat pump system.

Having invested  €1.3 million to modernise the SPAR Supermarket in Szentlőrinc, the SPAR operator celebrated the re-opening on 17 June. The store employs 24 team members. The SPAR Supermarket’s stunning exterior was left unchanged, but the instore layout has been redesigned substantially to ensure easy navigation. An extensive choice of fresh produce and a large selection of convenience products, including SPAR enjoy, are offered.

About SPAR Hungary

The first SPAR Supermarket opened in Hungary in 1992, following the acquisition by ASPIAG (Austria SPAR International AG) of a majority stake in General Kereskedelmi Rt. Since its launch, SPAR Hungary has been actively involved in developing the country’s retail industry.

The move to license independent retailers to operate the SPAR Brand has proven successful for Hungary. New stores meet the needs of many shoppers. In addition, the retailers benefit from becoming part of the SPAR organisation with access to their own brand products and other resources. At the same time, consumers enjoy the increased number of store locations. SPAR Hungary is one of the country’s largest employers, with 17,881 team members.
