SPAR China partner Jiarong, headquartered in Guangdong, on 25 October launched a public welfare activity honouring Dongguan city’s sanitation workers in cooperation with the Dongguan Charity Association. The project saw the distribution of 40,000 care packages.

Representatives of the Dongguan Civil Affairs Bureau, Dongguan Charity Association, the Dongguan Urban Management and Comprehensive Law Enforcement Bureau, SPAR Guangdong Jiarong Group, Dongguan Environmental Cleaning Industry Association and more than 50 sanitation workers attended the launch ceremony.

At the ceremony, SPAR Guangdong Jiarong presented a donation card with a total value of 1.98865 million yuan (€271,050), while Dongguan Charity Association representative Ai Shuzhen presented a donation of 3.9773 million yuan (€542,150). The donations have been used to give practical and heart-warming support to nearly 40,000 sanitation workers in the city.

The sanitation workers present at the event also received gift cards and food packages worth 100 yuan, which contained staple products such as egg noodles, a toothpaste and toothbrush travel set, beverages, and paperware.

The Dongguan City Charity Association’s ‘Caring for Sanitation Workers’ project has been implemented for five consecutive years. SPAR Guangdong Jiarong has participated in the project for four consecutive years, sending care and warmth to the city’s sanitation workers.

In the past five years, the project has raised more than 16 million yuan, benefitting more than 180,000 sanitation workers in the city, and the amount of funding has increased year by year.

About SPAR China

SPAR was introduced to China in 2004 with the signing of the licence agreement for Shandong province, followed by the addition of more partners. The privately-owned retail chains licensed to operate SPAR have a cooperative relationship.

As a result, this partnership aligns with the original SPAR mission of working together to reduce costs, maximise sales, and increase profits. The SPAR China Partners are part of a leading international group but maintain 100% local ownership.
