SPAR Guangdong recognised as local champion in fight against COVID-19

The local government of Dongguan, China, has recognised SPAR Guangdong as a local champion in the fight against COVID-19 during the Dongguan Municipal Awards Ceremony in December. Shortly after that, Dongguan Newspaper Media Group named the SPAR Brand a 'Citizen’s Favourite'. The group revealed 31 citizens’ favourite brands of 2020 on 16 December.

Reliable and safe grocery supply
When the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, SPAR Guangdong used its robust supply chains to maintain normal operations.

Agricultural supply chains were strongly affected during the COVID-19 lockdown. Farmers in surrounding towns lost their access to market. In response, SPAR Guangdong increased its fresh purchases and sold these at a fair and stable price.

SPAR also ensured a reliable supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) and cleaning supplies. Moreover, a contactless home delivery service allowed customers to shop from the comfort and safety of their homes.

SPAR Guangdong also worked with Dongguan Chamber of Commerce and Women’s Federation to distribute daily essentials and PPE among frontline healthcare workers.

CSR Award
In October 2020, SPAR China was awarded the prestigious title of Socially Responsible Company by trade and industry body ECR (Efficient Consumer Response) China. This title also recognises SPAR China’s timely and efficient measures during the coronavirus pandemic.
