Firmly aligned with its corporate social responsibility policy, SPAR Gran Canaria continues to collaborate with initiatives and projects that benefit the well-being of the local communities it serves.
During its biannual Congress, held in Gran Canaria early in October, SPAR UK donated €32,142 to Cáritas Diocesana de Canarias, a charity proposed by SPAR Gran Canaria. SPAR Gran Canaria offers Cáritas Diocesana ongoing support in its fight against poverty and social exclusion in the Canary Islands. This collaboration between SPAR UK and SPAR Gran Canaria demonstrates that the organisation’s commitment to solidarity goes beyond borders.
SPAR Gran Canaria renewed its support of the Barrios Orquestados project for the sixth consecutive year. This project promotes musical talent and equal opportunities for children, young people, and families in vulnerable situations.
The Barrios Orquestados project supports children’s orchestras and choirs of children, teenagers, and their families in seven neighbourhoods, promoting a vibrant community spirit.

SPAR Spain was founded in 1959 when a group of wholesalers who wished to join an international organisation came together. As a result, the brand became the first voluntary trading chain to be established in Spain.
The head office is in Barcelona. It provides buying, marketing, communications, and brand support to the 13 regional partners. Together, the SPAR operators actively continue the expansion of the brand across the country.
