SPAR Denmark continues store rollout with new store in Esbjerg

October 18, 2021 IN THE CATEGORY: Store openings

SPAR retailers Charlotte and Peter Junge have opened a new store in Esbjerg, Southern Denmark. Launched on 1 October, SPAR Skolegade is run by their 20-year-old daughter Natalie and brings an expanded range of to-go and healthier choices to the city.

Family business

Charlotte and Peter already operated two successful SPAR stores, in Filskov and on the Wadden Sea Island Fanø, respectively, before opening their third store in Esbjerg. New store manager Natalie has gained extensive retail experience working part-time in the Filskov family store over the past seven years.

Instore offer

Esbjerg is one of the six most populated cities in Denmark. SPAR Skolegade’s customer base consists of young single households and families as well as tourists.

The destination departments include fresh fish, bakery, delicatessen, a butchery and a food-to-go area offering freshly prepared sandwiches and salads.

Store layout

The store features a sales area of over 450m2 and is run by 23 SPAR colleagues, mostly part-timers. The store design is based on SPAR Denmark’s latest design concept, which the SPAR country operator developed in 2019 in close collaboration with SPAR International. SPAR Skolegade offers the best of SPAR Denmark’s corporate city stores in a convenient neighbourhood store format.
