SPAR Cyprus expands footprint

August 20, 2019 IN THE CATEGORY: Store openings

Recently, two SPAR Supermarkets were opened in Cyprus, following a conversion from the previously owned formats, Debenhams Food Halls. Located at Central in Nicosia and Olympia in Limassol, the latest SPAR stores also bring the brand to shoppers in these cities as Larnaca was previously the only city to have a SPAR Supermarket.

The conversion from food halls to SPAR was done with a view to improving the customer’s shopping experience, increasing the product offer throughout the store, introducing a variety of SPAR Own Brand products from around the world at competitive pricing and benefiting from daily special offers. Alongside the improvement in the product offer and store layout, employees have been trained in SPAR customer service and ways of working, ensuring the teams are fully integrated into SPAR.

SPAR Cyprus has placed a particular emphasis on the assortment, quality, variety and freshness of the products with a strong focus on supporting local farmers and producers, which is seen in the bakery, butchery, delicatessen and fruit and vegetable departments.

Hand in hand with the retail product range is a focus on offering a variety of solutions in the SPAR Own Brand ranges to support lifestyles and a desire for healthier products. Shoppers have reacted very positively to the SPAR Natural range and other products available which is ensuring that vegans, vegetarians and flexitarians also make SPAR their supermarket of choice.

SPAR Cyprus was launched in 2018, with the opening of  the first SPAR Supermarket in Larnaca and has taken the learnings from this to develop the stores in Nicosia and Limassol, working towards their goal of having 20 stores open across the country within five years.
