SPAR Austria is thanking its employees with a ‘corona bonus’ of €300, in recognition of their exemplary commitment over the past few months. Taking into account payments made in April, SPAR Austria’s ‘corona bonus’ will total €13 million this year.

In recognition of their hard work and dedication in the early days of the lockdown in March, SPAR Austria in April awarded a total bonus of over €3 million to employees in sales, production, and logistics. This second ‘corona bonus’ will be transferred to all employees’ loyalty bonus cards. This gift card can be used across the entire SPAR Austria store network.

“This year, we showed that we are capable of top performances. Every single employee made a valuable contribution. Only through this strong commitment were  we able to always meet our customers local needs”, said SPAR Austria CEO Gerhard Drexel. “This can only be achieved if all areas of the company work hand in hand, which is why we will give a ‘thank you bonus’ to all our employees”, he added.

Sabine Eiblmaier and Egon Karabacek, who head the central works council for INTERSPAR and SPAR, respectively, are delighted about the second bonus.

“Our colleagues deserve to receive an extra bonus in this extraordinary year. The money comes at just the right time before the Christmas season”, they noted.
