The quality mark audit defines measures offering added value to employees over a three-year period. A project group at the SPAR Austria Central Office set the working environment goals in cooperation with the works council made up of SPAR Austria employees, the SPAR Board, and an external auditor.
SPAR Austria has over the past years implemented a comprehensive parental leave policy, supporting team members from the announcement of pregnancy to re-entry after parental leave. SPAR Austria’s central office also offers family-friendly training, allowing team members to spend more time at home with their family.
In addition, SPAR organises a one-week Summer Kids Camp supporting employees with childcare in the summer months. SPAR Austria also trains managers on the important topic of reconciliation to support them in creating a good working environment.
A separate ‘berufundfamilie’ index was generated as part of an employee survey reflecting employee satisfaction regarding SPAR Austria’s family-friendly measures.
“For us as a family business, making it possible to combine work and family is not a bonus but a matter of course. The various measures contribute significantly to keeping the private and work life of our colleagues in balance. The positive feedback from employees encourages us on our way”, said SPAR Austria CEO Fritz Poppmeier.
