SPAR Albania supports orphanage in Durrës

September 1, 2021 IN THE CATEGORY: Responsible retailing

Children are the future, and it is essential to create a healthy social environment to help them thrive. As part of its ongoing community support programme, SPAR Albania has donated a year-long supply of diapers to an orphanage in Durrës. The SPAR country operator also organised an entertaining event with balloons and gifts for each child in the orphanage.

The Director of the Orphanage, Mrs Mimoza Xhelilaj, expressed gratitude for  SPAR’s support towards protecting children’s rights and improving their living conditions.

“It is the responsibility of our entire society to raise awareness to provide children with a healthier and more promising future”, she said.

Social issues remain a priority for SPAR Albania. Recent collaborations include a project with the non-profit organisation World Vision to raise awareness of violence towards children.

SPAR Albania

SPAR International granted the licence for SPAR in Albania in mid-2016 to Almark, owned by the Balfin Group.

Since launching in October 2016, conversions of company-owned stores have continued. In addition, new partnerships have been established with independent retailers to expand the brand’s reach. As a result, SPAR Albania operates two formats: INTERSPAR Hypermarkets and SPAR Supermarkets.
