66th International SPAR Congress
The 66th International SPAR Congress will be held in South Africa starting on Sunday 21 and ending on Saturday 27 May. In 2023, SPAR South Africa is celebrating its 60th anniversary – a milestone in the brand’s development in this culturally diverse country. For the first time, the Congress will be held in the KwaZulu Natal Province, where independent retailer-run stores are serviced from the Distribution Centre to ensure they meet the needs of local customers and tourists. This is also the region where SPAR South Africa’s Training Academy and the group’s central office are located. A separate optional discovery tour to Cape Town can be participated in, running from Saturday 27 May to Tuesday 30 May 2023.

The Congress brings together leading executives of the SPAR global organization to review the strong achievements in growth over the past 12 months, and to look forward to the future, and how as a global organization, we shall maintain our growth.
Over the course of the week-long programme, delegates will have the opportunity to network and connect with senior SPAR executives from around the world. On Monday 22 May, the programme of store visits will showcase the diverse offering by independent retailers in the KwaZulu Natal region.
During the Business Sessions held over two full days on Tuesday and Wednesday, participants will hear from an array of speakers on the latest issues impacting on and driving our global business forward.
Throughout the week, delegates will have an opportunity to enjoy some of the wonderful sights that South Africa has to offer whilst building new networks and renewing existing ties with the worldwide SPAR family.
Continuing our policy of leaving a legacy to support the host nation’s work with children, on Wednesday evening, a donation will be made to the charitable partner of choice from all SPAR participants.
