Ten SPAR and EUROSPAR forecourts have been named the best in the UK at the recent Forecourt Trader Awards held in London.

A popular SPAR forecourt and convenience store, located in the small village of Llandrinio in Montgomeryshire, Powys/Shropshire border, owned by independent retailers Lewis Ltd, has been named the best for community engagement in the UK. Judges said this award is always a tough category to judge, and this year was no different. However, they were unanimous in their praise for Lewis Ltd and, in particular, The Cabin drop-in centre.

G&E Murgatroyd SPAR Whitehaven took the regional category award win for Northern England up to £4 million per annum. Having relocated around the corner from its former location in Richmond Hill Road in July 2021 at the cost of £3 million, the new store, with the addition of a Shell livery forecourt, has become even more of a community asset.

The SPAR forecourt at JET Refinery Service Station won the second regional Northern England over 4 million category award. JET Retail UK has opened this state-of-the-art flagship site following a £3m knockdown-rebuild. The site, close to the Phillips 66 Limited Humber Refinery in South Killingholme, North Lincolnshire, was officially re-opened at the end of October 2021 following months of construction.

Seven of Northern Ireland’s SPAR and EUROSPAR forecourts received awards. In greater Belfast, Henderson Retail-owned and operated SPAR Fortfield in Carrickfergus was named Best Coffee and Hot Beverages Outlet for the second year in a row.

EUROSPAR Donegall Road took home both Best Customer Service and Best Site Manager for Chris Lawlor, while Creightons of Finaghy was named Best Forecourt Team.

In Co Fermanagh, Swift’s EUROSPAR, Lisnaskea picked up the regional Northern Ireland award for Best Forecourt (up to 4mlpa), while McCullagh’s Classic Service Station took home the same award in the over 4mlpa category.

EUROSPAR Kircubbin, which opened its doors earlier this year on the Ards Peninsula, was the winner of the Best Design and Development Award.

The wins come after an already successful awards season for SPAR and EUROSPAR retailers at the recent Convenience Awards and Retail Industry Awards. Top of FormForecourt Trader magazine is the leading media brand in the forecourt sector in the UK and has been recognising, rewarding, and celebrating forecourt retailers’ outstanding achievements for over 20 years.
