SPAR UK launches second nationwide £100k Community Cashback scheme

February 7, 2023 IN THE CATEGORY: Community, Responsible retailing

Following the enormous success of the Community Cashback scheme in 2022, SPAR UK is launching its second £100k Community Cashback scheme. The scheme gives grants to selected local voluntary or community organisations and charities.

From 1 February, shoppers from all over the UK can apply for a grant for an organisation or charity they feel deserves funding. Applicants are asked to share the exceptional contribution a local organisation has made to their community and what the grant would be put towards.

Applications will run from 1 February to 15 March 2023, with successful candidates being contacted on 2 May 2023. There are grants available covering all geographical regions across the UK. Amounts up to £10,000 are available, with a total pool of grants valued at £100,000. Successful applicants will be visited and awarded their grant from their local SPAR representative.

The top 100 shortlisted charities will have the opportunity to be showcased across SPAR UK’s social channels and the website for a single month. This gives the charities valuable exposure and amplifies the SPAR Community Cashback campaign.

Suzanne Dover, SPAR UK Brand and Marketing Director, said: “Our 2023 Community Cashback programme gives our SPAR stores a chance to give back to their local community. We believe in nurturing our neighbourhoods and supporting the communities we serve. The Community Cashback scheme is another way we are helping, especially now when deserving local organisations need some extra financial support.”

“The SPAR £100k Community Cashback scheme will give shoppers across the UK the chance to make their communities better. We look forward to helping the winning causes in the coming months”, she added.

Shoppers wishing to send in entries are asked to visit SPAR UK’s community cashback site for more information.

The UK became a SPAR member in 1956 when SPAR International granted the SPAR licence to a group of independent wholesalers. As a result, there are now five regional partners in the UK. A central office in London provides national marketing and buying services for the group.

SPAR has led the highly competitive convenience market in the UK for many years. Always innovative, the five regional partners continue to grow the brand. SPAR UK comprises independently owned licensed retailers and company-owned stores. These include forecourts, airports, train stations, city centres, and local neighbourhood stores.
