Over the past year, many families and individuals have experienced economic challenges due to the pandemic. In the spirit of community support, SPAR Slovenia has for several years met a need among less fortunate primary school children for assistance ahead of the start of the school year. This year, the company donated around 100 packages of teaching aids, school bags and school supplies to support families in need.
On 27 July, the school supplies were handed over to the Association of Friends of Youth (ZPM) Ljubljana Moste-Polje. The charity selects the children in need and is currently distributing the supplies to the families. Children from Ljubljana and surrounding areas were the first to receive their school supplies. Pupils living in other areas in Slovenia will soon have their school supplies delivered to their homes.
The Secretary of ZPM Ljubljana Moste-Polje, Tanja Petek, said: “We are happy to enable these children to start the new school year in a more relaxed and confident way. This year, the hardships of buying school supplies are especially noticeable in families affected by the current measures against the spread of the coronavirus. The cost of school supplies is a big burden for them, especially buying of workbooks and art materials, so we are extremely grateful to SPAR Slovenia for their support.”
SPAR Slovenia has supported ZPM Ljubljana Moste-Polje for several years, collecting supplies for children without access to tools for education and development.
