The SPAR Lancashire School Games have kicked off and have already been a roaring success since their launch in March. Now in its tenth year, over 2,400 youngsters are expected to take part in the SPAR Lancashire School Games county final this summer, bringing a fantastic opportunity for James Hall & Company Ltd, the SPAR distributors for the North of England. Organised by Lancashire Sport Partnership, the event is sponsored by James Hall & Company and is part of the national £128m school games programme.

The SPAR Lancashire School Games comprises two main events: the Disability Swimming Gala that took place on March 16 and the county finals, which will be held in Blackpool on July 5. Schools across Lancashire will now battle it out for a place at the SPAR finals, where they will compete against pupils from 15 districts to be crowned champions in sports including rounders, tennis, gymnastics, athletics and netball, as well as two new sports for 2016, triathlon and tri-golf.

Social media has been buzzing with news of the Games, with great support on Facebook and Twitter.

Peter Dodding, Sales Director at James Hall & Company Ltd, said:  “We are so pleased to be throwing our support behind the SPAR Lancashire School Games for the tenth year running. It’s great to be involved in an event which encourages young people across Lancashire to get active, keep fit and participate in competitive sport.”

“The SPAR Lancashire School Games is now a prolific component of the county’s school sporting calendar, with the event being a driving force to encouraging many young children into sport. It’s often the start of their lifelong relationship with competitive sport so it really is instrumental in helping to achieve our aim of improving people’s lives through sport and physical activity,” he said.
