SPAR India expands retail footprint by 50% within 2 years

SPAR India has expanded its retail selling space by 50% within just twenty-four months. The innovative shopping experience enjoyed by consumers in the SPAR Hypermarkets reflects a cutting-edge retail environment and highlight the extensive investment in the brand.

SPAR India’s store concept won the gold prize at the Asian Customer Engagement Forum earlier this year. The new SPAR Hypermarket at Sharath Capital City Mall in Hyderabad is a perfect example of the customer-centric store concept that integrates technology, design and tradition in a seamless way.

SPAR India’s Managing Director Rajeev Krishnan stated: “We now have 5 stores in this beautiful city. We opened our 16th store in Hyderabad in 2016 and committed to grow by 50% in the coming 18-24 months, which we have achieved. Here in Hyderabad we are delighted to showcase our promise of fresh, value, choice and service through retail innovation.”

SPAR Hypermarkets in India offer a wide assortment including fresh produce, fresh fish and meat, groceries, home and living products, clothes as well as electronic equipment. Shopping can also be done online, through a dedicated web platform or the SPAR India mobile app. SPAR Hypermarkets feature cutting-edge self-assist screens for easy shopping instore whilst special kids’ interactive screens make shopping fun; examples of just two solutions integrated through innovation.

The city of Bangalore also recently welcomed another addition to the SPAR retail estate. Situated at RMZ Galleria, Yelahanka, this SPAR Hypermarket is the seventh in Bangalore. The store provides a completely new, innovation-led shopping experience to customers. Equipped with 30 checkouts, of which several are self-checkouts, this store stocks over 20,000 products and has a strong fresh offer.

SPAR India now has a retail footprint in the cities of Coimbatore, Mangalore, Bangalore, Shimoga, Chennai and Delhi NCR. The total store numbers today are 24, with more developments already in the pipeline to continue this rapid pace of expansion across the country.
