SPAR Gran Canaria is continuing its commitment to sustainability by developing more efficient and environmentally friendly stores. The SPAR operator has recently relaunched a 300m² SPAR store with a new, more sustainability-focused image in the island’s south-east.

Located in the town of El Carrizal, SPAR Carrizal first opened 17 years ago, serving the local community with a high-quality grocery assortment. It has now been transformed into a more modern and efficient store. It presents a more spacious entrance facilitating safe access. Larger and brighter spaces provide convenience and enhance the shopping experience.

The original staff of 11 employees know the tastes of their local customers well. The SPAR store has dedicated areas for fresh local produce, including fruit and vegetables, meat, bread, and delicatessen.

SPAR Gran Canaria has taken care of energy efficiency by installing state-of-the-art, closed vertical refrigerators, which optimize energy savings. The long opening hours have remained unchanged from Monday to Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., and on Sundays and holidays from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

About SPAR Spain

SPAR Spain was founded in 1959 as a result of the coming together of a group of wholesalers who wished to be part of an international organisation. The brand became the first voluntary trading chain to be established in Spain.

The head office is located in Barcelona. It provides buying, marketing, communications and brand support to the 13 regional partners. This helps continuing the expansion of the brand across the country.
