The licence for SPAR in Portugal was granted in 2006, completing the presence of the brand in Western Europe. In 2011, new investors provided the capital required to meet the needs of a rapidly growing business.
Ten years after the first store opened in 2007, the SPAR Partner celebrated its 100th store – there are now more than 140 in operation across the country. The SPAR stores in Portugal are predominantly convenience-focused, neighbourhood stores of around 250m2 in size.
