James Hall & Co, SPAR UK wholesaler for the North of England, is delighted to be the sponsor of the SPAR Lancashire School Games for the 13th year, helping to promote healthy and active lifestyles across Lancashire county.

The 2019 edition of the Games was officially launched on Valentine’s Day with a special VIP event held at James Hall & Co’s purpose built SPAR Distribution Centre in Preston.

A total of 120 special guests were treated to inspirational talks by Team GB athletes, Nathan Maguire (Paralympian sprinter) and Lisa Whiteside (Commonwealth Gold Boxer), as well as a behind-the-scenes tour of the company’s warehouse and production areas to educate the children of the many opportunities available to them within the retail sector.

Among the guests were 80 Lancashire school children who had been selected to represent the 15 districts competing in the games and VIPs from Active Lancashire, Rock FM and the Mayor of Preston.

Peter Dodding, Sales and Marketing Director at James Hall & Co said: “We are thrilled to be able to continue our support for the SPAR Lancashire School Games and help promote healthy, active lifestyles throughout the county, alongside our partners, Active Lancashire, and the fantastic team of Lancashire school games organisers.

“Over 94,000 Lancashire school children participated in last year’s SPAR Lancashire School Games and this year promises to be bigger and better!”

About SPAR UK

The United Kingdom (UK) became a member of SPAR in 1956 when a group of independent wholesalers obtained the SPAR licence from SPAR International. There are five regional partners with strategically placed Distribution Centres in each region. A Central Office located in London provides national Marketing and Buying services for the group and supports the development of the SPAR Brand in the UK.

SPAR has led the convenience market in the UK for many years but has faced increasing competition in recent times. Always innovative, SPAR Partners have continued to grow the brand. A combination of independently-owned licensed retailers and company-owned stores spanning forecourts, airports, train stations, city centres and local neighbourhoods can be found throughout the country.
