SPAR Switzerland will continue to be the official presenter of the women’s national teams, naming rights partner of the SPAR Premium League (SPL 1 and SPL 2), and main sponsor of the Mobiliar Handball Cup.
The continuation of the commitment benefits all Swiss handball clubs. Launched in 2016, the SPAR Handball App can be downloaded for free for iOS and Android smartphones. Using the app, customers can follow their favourite clubs and game results and add 2.5% or 1% of their total instore purchase sum to donate to their preferred club. The app is extremely user-friendly, with customers only needing to show the app’s barcode at the checkout.
Supporting local communities is inherent to the SPAR way of operating – the Swiss handball club programme is a great example of how successful this approach to community and retail benefits people from all walks of life.
Last season, SPAR Switzerland raised a considerable amount of money for Swiss handball. At this year’s Swiss Handball Awards ceremony, SPAR Switzerland COO Gary Alberts presented a cheque worth CHF36,000 (€37,231) to the CEO of Handball Switzerland, Jürgen Krucker.
“We are very proud of our long-standing partnership with the Swiss Handball Association. We will undoubtedly be successful together in women’s handball for many more years to come. Our women’s national team will represent Switzerland for the first time ever at a European Championship in November 2022. We are convinced that, despite the immense pressure, they will perform excellently and make the whole country proud”, Gary Alberts said.
