In the bakery products category, SPAR Slovenia’s artisan bread with seeds is the Innovation of the Year 2023. The bread impresses customers with its crispy toasted and aromatic artisanal crust and a long-lasting fresh crumb. It is high in fibre and has 25 % less salt than SPAR Slovenia’s regular bread.
Boštjan Kos, Manager of SPAR Slovenia’s bakery, commented: “The innovative aspect of the award-winning bread lies mainly in the preparation of the seeds. These are usually soaked in sourdough or water, but in this case, they are soaked in yeast, which is an innovation.”
The SPAR Bakery has been awarded with this prestigious award for the eighth year in a row.
In the category of prepared food, winning products were SPAR Slovenia’s SPAR TO GO chicken cup and vegan fruit cup. The two awarded cups are tasty and nutritious, adding vegetables or fruit to shoppers’ diets.
The Ljubljana-based Institute of Nutrition started selecting and awarding the most innovative Slovenian food products in 2014. Only products launched in the previous year are included in the competition. More information on this year’s award-winning products can be found here.
