Magyar Termék Nonprofit Kft., the independent organisation responsible for the Hungarian Product certification trademark system, and Trade magazine, a leading Hungarian business-to-business publication, presented the award for the ninth time at the Business Days conference on 22 September in Tapolca, Hungary.
The award recognises and showcases how retail chains support Hungarian products. Companies that are authorised to use the Hungarian Product trademark play an important role in selecting the winners. Based on their experience, they vote for the retail group which has strongly promoted those products. A professional working group that cooperates with retailers throughout the year evaluates the results. The award therefore reflects suppliers’ views as well as the retailers’ year-round performance.
“The competition is distinctive because it does not assess just one successful promotion or campaign. Instead, the decision considers the retail chain’s performance throughout the previous year. This includes how actively it cooperated with Magyar Termék, the opportunities it provided to showcase trademarked products and how effectively it helped make these products available to consumers at as many points of sale as possible,” said Eszter Benedek, Managing Director of Magyar Termék Nonprofit Kft.
Consumers also selected the winner of a special award this year. A total of 6,983 respondents took part in the online Consumer Award survey, sharing their views on buying products carrying the Hungarian Product trademark.
Of the respondents, 27.1% selected SPAR Hungary as the retail chain where they could most easily find their favourite products carrying the Hungarian Product trademark. SPAR Hungary therefore won the Consumer Award for the fourth consecutive year.
