SPAR Slovenia invested a total of €6.8 million in the new INTERSPAR Šiška located in the Aleja shopping centre. The modern store design features thematically arranged departments: at the entrance, customers can find a SPAR-To-Go department offering a large variety of prepared meals such as pizzas, sandwiches, salads, and desserts. The central part of the hypermarket features a delicatessen island with a diverse selection of salami, cheeses, as well as various meat and Mediterranean specialties. The modern instore bakery offers more than 90 types of freshly baked products and 40 types of pastries and desserts.
Strong fresh offer
In the instore butcher’s shop, fresh meat from various producers as well as selected specialties from all over the world are on offer. Seafood lovers will enjoy the wide range of freshwater and sea fish, shellfish, and frozen seafood.
A highlight of the store is the fruit and vegetable department with a real market feel. Visitors can find an extensive choice of fresh fruit and vegetables throughout the year, with special attention paid to organic products.
To speed up the payment process, eight modern self-service POS terminals have been installed instore, in addition to ten staffed checkouts.
Reducing environmental impact
During the construction of the 13th INTERSPAR store in the country, SPAR Slovenia focused on energy-efficient options by implementing energy-saving LED lighting as well as closed refrigerators and freezers. For heating and cooling, a transcritical CO2 system makes use of excess heat.
At the opening of the new INTERSPAR Šiška, Igor Mervič, General Manager of SPAR Slovenia, said: “At SPAR, customers always come first, that’s why we provide a state-of-the-art shopping experience. The large selection of products meets the needs of every customer, and the pleasant ambiance and helpfulness of our SPAR colleagues will convince visitors to return to our latest and long-awaited INTERSPAR Šiška.”
