Across August and September, SPAR Shandong opened a series of new supermarkets across the North of the country. In August, SPAR Shandong Wendeng Kangye first opened its doors, while SPAR Shandong Bayinmengke Plaza welcomed customers in September. Both supermarkets follow a new-generation store concept, with product assortments tailored to local customers’ needs. The overall shopping experience, including departments such as fresh produce and food-to-go, was upgraded.
SPAR Shandong also reopened multiple SPAR supermarkets following modernisation projects. Located on Longfor Tianjie in Jiaozhou, SPAR Shandong celebrated the reopening of a modernised supermarket after extensive renovations. With a retail sales area of more than 3,500m², the supermarket underwent a comprehensive upgrade to improve the shopping experience, including enhanced product and department selection.
The extensive food-to-go department includes ready-made meals such as roast chicken, fried skewers, and crispy duck, alongside baked goods. Overall, the modernised SPAR supermarket provides a one-stop shopping experience, enabling customers to find everything they need under one roof.
Other renovated SPAR supermarkets have reopened in Weihai and Yantai. The supermarkets prioritise enhanced product assortments, improved shopping experience, and the introduction of additional departments, all with a modernised store design.

The SPAR brand was introduced to China in 2004 with the signing of the licence agreement for the Shandong province. Today, two core partners build the brand in the north and south, extending the communities having access to SPAR stores. The privately-owned retail chains licensed to operate the SPAR brand have a cooperative relationship. As a result, this partnership aligns with the original SPAR mission of working together to reduce costs, maximise sales, and increase profits.
