SPAR Rainbow Run in Zimbabwe raises $30,000 for Childline

More than 4,000 Zimbabweans of all ages, sizes and walks of life participated in the 2018 SPAR Rainbow Run in Harare recently. Organised in aid of Childline, this year’s attendance was more than double that of last year’s.

The streets of Harare were awash with colour as participants made their way through the 2.5 km, 5 km and 10 km routes, with plenty of family fun and laughter being had by all. Formerly known as the SPAR Family Fun Run, the race was rebranded last year to the SPAR Rainbow Run. The rainbow is a symbol of hope, which is what Childline seeks to provide for hundreds of thousands of children who reach out to them in need, every day.

All proceeds from the 2018 SPAR Rainbow Run were donated to the Childline charity, with an unprecedented $30,000 raised this year. Louise McAllister, Marketing Manager of SPAR Zimbabwe said: “Childline is a place of refuge, it is the ear that listens without judging, it is the hand that protects without asking for anything in return. We are so proud of the phenomenal turn out by the community – the $30,000 raised will help to keep this vital lifeline open for all the children of Zimbabwe and we would like to thank everyone who participated, from sponsors and suppliers, to service providers, partners, the SPAR team and the whole community, to make this wonderful day possible.”
