As we approach the end of 2020, we can look back on a year of consistent growth and investments, as well as initiatives highlighting the SPAR commitment to responsible retailing in all areas of the business.
In his opening speech, Tobias Wasmuht, Managing Director of SPAR International, underscored SPAR’s continued strategy of working together closely with trusted supplier partners in the areas of procurement and supply chain, as well as the growing number of challenger brands. Despite the challenges of COVID-19, SPAR Own Brand sales have grown strongly over the past year. Meanwhile, the SPAR Brand has expanded into a new country, namely Ghana.
Dr Danny Thorniley, a world-leading business expert on emerging markets, discussed the benefits of working together – a key strength of SPAR. GFK Global Retail Director Marc Knuff addressed some of the key challenges FMCG suppliers face navigating the new normal in 2021.
The 2020 Partnership Forum highlighted that innovation remains high on the agenda at SPAR, particularly in the area of sustainability. SPAR is a purpose-driven organisation – which is visible through the ongoing responsible retailing initiatives and partnerships. Examples include our global partnership with Too Good To Go, which was formally announced during the event.
Connecting for growth
The event served as an ideal opportunity to connect at a senior level to maximise support for the development of SPAR internationally. This year, the Partnership Forum was held via an interactive virtual platform. This provided an excellent opportunity to network, forge new relationships, and build upon existing relationships.
Through the event platform, delegates could explore different virtual areas – allowing them to view presentations and interact with exhibitors, using audio and video chat functions. The Forum offered suppliers the ideal platform to showcase their innovative products to SPAR Partners.
By utilising our strong global network, we can continue to support local producers and retailers with long-term stability and access to global markets while offering our customers high quality, value-driven products.
We thank all SPAR delegates, suppliers, and other partners for their participation in this year’s highly successful SPAR International Partnership Forum. We look forward to welcoming you again next year.
All presentations can be viewed until the end of the month via the event webpage and on SPAR Connect after that.
