The store is located in the centre of the village, has 285m2 of retail sales space and serves as the local store with all of the grocery essentials needed to cover the daily and weekly needs of the household. This includes instore departments such as a butchery and delicatessen, bakery alongside a winery with local Catalan wines and liquors. A team of seven people operate the store.
SPAR Gran Canaria announced the opening of a new store as well as the reopening of a refurbished store.
SPAR Avenida de Carlos V reopened after modernisation, which is part of SPAR Gran Canaria’s strategy of improvement and optimisation of its stores on the island. The store’s retail sales area of 298m2 has been transformed to provide a more agile and pleasant shopping experience for customers. This includes an extensive fresh area for local fruit and vegetables, bakery, cheese section, and a butchery. An instore cafe which also has food-to-go is proving popular with customers.
Furthermore, a new SPAR Express convenience store opened its doors in Maspalomas. The retail sales area of 110m2 features a tailored assortment in line with the shopper profile.
In line with SPAR Gran Canaria’s commitment to sustainability and reducing its carbon footprint, LED lighting and upgraded refrigeration systems are included in both stores.

SPAR Spain was founded in 1959 when a group of wholesalers who wished to join an international organisation came together. As a result, the brand became the first voluntary trading chain to be established in Spain, having been granted a license by SPAR International. Together, 13 regional SPAR wholesalers actively continue the expansion of the brand across the country.
