The supermarket now employs 105 team members from the local area, creating a community-focused team passionate about local food and serving those in their neighbourhood.
Award-winning store manager John Fox who leads the team says this enhanced supermarket has grown its product range by 54%, bringing many firsts for shoppers in the local area and beyond.
“EUROSPAR Supermarket on Greencastle Street is the area’s newly upgraded destination for locally sourced fresh produce, homemade meals cooked with local ingredients, an outstanding range of hot and cold food to go, plus everyday essentials and services. Our new look community supermarket delivers a fresh market, housing products from over 190 local suppliers, including those from farms and fields in the local area. Shoppers can also find Kilkeel’s first instore production kitchen and a made-from-scratch instore bakery, managed by a team of local experts who are baking bread and treats, and cooking meals and dishes fresh every day,” said John Fox.
George Rankin, Retail Director at Henderson Group, added, “We have not only invested heavily in the infrastructure and refurbishment of the store – we have invested in our range of locally sourced products to provide our shoppers with choice, quality and value, all under one roof.”
The supermarket offers a variety of on-the-go food options, including a full Delish deli experience, a Southern Fried Chicken bar, and three Barista Bar coffee machines, one of which is an iced coffee machine. They also have freshly baked goods available daily. Additionally, the EUROSPAR supermarket Greencastle Street features a post office counter and convenient breakfast, lunch, and coffee options. There are six larger trolley self-check-outs and full-service staffed check-outs to make shopping more efficient.
Since 2008, the supermarket has supported the local community, including schools, groups, and charities. Their recent efforts include providing breakfast at Newry Street Unite, donating to the Men’s Shed and Cornerstone Foodbank, giving books to Regenerate, doing a litter pick with Kilkeel Primary School, visiting Slieve Roe House, and cutting hair for the Cancer Fund for Children.
Store Manager John Fox added, “We have a dedicated local team and we are looking forward to meeting even more of our neighbours now that the construction work is complete and our store has officially reopened to our shoppers.”
