March 31, 2016 IN THE CATEGORY: Store openings

SPAR Spain was delighted with the excellent reactions from customers to the opening of a new store in Puerto del Rosario on the island of Fuerteventura. This is the third store to open in the town and the 18th SPAR Supermarket on the island. The opening also marks SPAR Partner, Padilla Supermercados’s 35th anniversary. Local government officials as well as company representatives were present at the opening.

This newest 800m2 SPAR Supermarket is open six days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., ensuring that residents and tourists alike benefit from the extensive product offer instore. There are state-of-the-art fish and meat departments with humidifiers to maintain product quality. The instore bakery ensures a ready supply of freshly made items throughout the day, complementing the modern and extensive fruit & vegetable department. The general merchandise and health & beauty departments add to the full offer, along with an attractive wine department.

Customers are offered friendly, fast service at the four cash registers. The high-tech electronic shelf labels add to the shopping experience. There is also a queue management system, which helps to ensure smooth customer flow during busy periods. For customers who need it, a home delivery service is also available.

A group-wide communication channel shares information about products and special offers to all SPAR stores throughout Fuerteventura. At this new SPAR Supermarket alone, there are seven semi-outdoor screens advertising products to customers.

By investing in this new supermarket, 25 new jobs have been created. The employment generated by the ongoing development of SPAR Supermarkets greatly contributes to the island’s economy.
