The award recognises oustanding managers who are committed to their communities and stores and demonstrate remarkable leadership. Clive and his team were one of 100 nominees who competed for the top prize.
President and CEO, Food Marketing Institute, Leslie G. Sarasin said, “In today’s shifting food retail landscape, store managers must possess a unique mixture of skills to keep their stores on a successful path of smooth operations, quality customer service, meaningful community involvement and inviting shopping atmosphere. It’s clear the exemplary leadership demonstrated by each of the winners inspires their teams to daily do their best, lean into challenges and stay a step ahead.”
Clive received the award while attending the Food Managment Institute’s Future Leaders Experience which took place in Chicago, Illinois last week.
Speaking about the award win, Managing Director of SPAR International Tobias Wasmuht commented “As the world’s largest voluntary food retail chain, SPAR International has many fantastic managers across our 12,500 stores in 44 countries. However, to receive this type of international recognition is truly exceptional. On behalf of SPAR International, I would like to congratulate Clive and his team at SPAR Glencacres in Johannesburg on this wonderful achievement.”
Chairman of the Guild of SPAR Grocers in South Africa, Roelf Venter, stated upon learning of the award “It is a well deserved award for a truly exceptional individual.
