Download imageSPAR Slovenia extended its sponsorship contract with the Basketball Federation of Slovenia (KZS) in February, supporting Slovenian basketball players for the 23rd year in a row.
David Kovačič, CEO of SPAR Slovenia, said: “In 22 years of partnership, basketball has become part of our corporate identity. We decided to extend the sponsorship due to our good cooperation with the Slovenian Basketball Association, the potential of Slovenian basketball, and, above all, the positive emotions that the Slovenian national team generates in all of us. We are pleased that Slovenian basketball will continue to develop with us at all levels. While we are meeting the traditional SPAR Cup is on, we have a lot of promising young players, the national team is a world superpower, we have the World Cup ahead of us. We believe that we can contribute to basketball retaining its popularity and thus contributing to a more positive and healthy society. I am convinced that with the support of fans, the national team can re-reach its potential. However, regardless of the result, the players can count on SPAR to stand by them.”
The President of the Slovenian Basketball Association, Matej Erjavec, commented: “Every year, at the beginning of February, we come together with SPAR leadership team. This year, we will partner for the 23rd year in a row, and I am very pleased that SPAR has increased the stake in Slovenian basketball. I would like to thank SPAR Slovenia’s CEO David Kovačič for his support. We are looking forward to this varied basketball year, with the Women’s EuroBasket and the Men’s World Cup as the two highlights. After the action of the women’s national team, we had the final tournament of the SPAR Cup in Maribor.”
For the first time in its history, the SPAR Cup final was held at Maribor’s Lukna Hall. The final saw many talented basketball players competing with Ljubljana’s Cedevita Olimpija being crowned champions with a 81-70 win over the Helios Suns from Domžale.
