Agrucan, SPAR Spain operator on Tenerife, has organised a joint donation on behalf of the entire network of Canary Islands SPAR stores. The €32,500 donation will benefit those affected by this year’s volcano eruption on La Palma island.
Since October, SPAR stores in Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Tenerife, La Gomera, El Hierro, and La Palma have promoted the second edition of their ‘Solidarity Product’ campaign. The initiative collected €26,500, allocated on this occasion in full to those affected by the La Palma volcano eruption. SPAR Supermarkets in Gran Canaria (Cencosu) have added €6,000. The cheque was delivered to Cáritas Diocesana de Tenerife by Heriberto Alonso, General Manager of the Agrucan Group.
On 18 November, Oman’s National Day, SPAR Oman launched its annual ‘National Day Collection Campaign – Lend a Helping Hand in Feeding the Needy’ in collaboration with Dar Al Atta’a. This charity association caters to those in need in the Sultanate.
The initiative symbolises SPAR Oman’s collective effort to serve communities and families in need. To maximise the impact of this initiative, SPAR Oman set up collection booths in all 24 SPAR stores nationwide, enabling shoppers to contribute to this worthy cause. In addition to food products, customers can donate pre-packed charity packs. All donated items will be handed over to Dar Al Atta’a.
At the end of November, SPAR UK celebrated a huge fundraising milestone of £2 million raised for its charity partner Marie Curie since 2017. This incredible landmark was reached through instore fundraising, customer donations, and on-pack product donations.
The money raised has helped Marie Curie, the UK’s leading end of life charity, to continue providing essential frontline care for people living with any terminal illness and their loved ones. Marie Curie also offers practical information and emotional support on all aspects of death and bereavement.
As part of its ongoing campaign ‘Happy tails, sincere smiles’, SPAR Slovenia is promoting animal welfare for the ninth year in a row. This year, the company is focusing on animals that perform admirable tasks, such as service dogs, or have a therapeutic effect on humans when treating certain illnesses.
A further boost to this campaign was made in October when SPAR Slovenia donated more than 1,000kg of pet food to selected animal societies to celebrate World Animal Day.
SPAR Spain operator SPAR Gran Canaria has become the main sales channel for the solidarity calendars of the Down Las Palmas Association. All proceeds will benefit the Association’s projects.
