SPAR Oman puts spotlight on sustainability and charity support on National Day

Each year, SPAR Oman celebrates the country’s National Day with community spirited activities. This year, on 18 November, winners of the retailer’s National Day Online Art Contest were revealed in a special ceremony. That same day, the launch of a national collection drive to help those in need was announced.

Art Contest

To mark the occasion, SPAR Oman organised an online art contest with three themes ‘The Beauty of Oman’, ‘Green Oman’ and ‘Eco-Friendly Lifestyle’. On National Day, the winning artworks were unveiled in the presence of SPAR Oman’s senior management and valued customers at the SPAR Supermarket in Madinat Qaboos. The winners of the contest were congratulated by Moosapeta Sridhar, CEO of SPAR Oman. The winning artworks have been made even more memorable by being printed on reusable eco-friendly shopping bags which are being sold as a special edition.

Annual Collection Campaign

The date was an auspicious occasion to launch SPAR Oman’s annual ‘National Day Collection Campaign – Lend a Helping Hand in Feeding the Needy’ in collaboration with Dar Al Atta’a, an inclusive charity association that caters to those in need in the Sultanate.

The Drive symbolises SPAR Oman’s collective effort to serve communities and families in need. To maximise on the impact of this initiative, SPAR Oman has set up collection booths in all 24 SPAR stores nationwide to enable shoppers to contribute to this worthy cause. In addition to food products, customers can donate pre-packed charity packs. All donated items will be handed over to Dar Al Atta’a at the end of the campaign.

At the launch, Moosapeta Sridhar said: “We are deeply committed to SPAR Oman’s National Collection Drive. This campaign strengthens national values among shoppers by uniting them to help those in need. It is part of our mission to support the communities we operate in, and as part of these enduring efforts we are proud to have partnered with Dar Al Atta’a.”
