Since the introduction of our online shopping service in Malta in March, INTERSPAR has processed on average 50 orders a day. Orders reached a peak in mid-April when the island was in full lockdown. Since launching this convenient platform, the average number of online orders per month has reached 1,500, with a minimum order value of €70.
Picked and delivered from the INTERSPAR store in the capital, Valletta, the online platform offers nationwide delivery. SPAR Malta customers can choose between three timeslots – 8 am until noon, noon until 3 pm, or 3 pm until 7 pm.
A total of 21 jobs were created to ensure that customers ordering online would promptly and efficiently receive their goods. The six dedicated drivers have been trained in social distancing measures whilst doing deliveries. In the store, twelve pickers work to meet all demand, supported by three supervisors overseeing the new channel.
SPAR Malta has seen orders being placed across all categories in the supermarket, although certain hygienic and antibacterial products proved challenging to source due to the rapid increase in demand.
Despite the reduction in tourism numbers, SPAR Malta opened another supermarket earlier this year, meeting the needs of residents of Bugibba in St. Paul’s Bay.
