SPAR Italy wins Retailer of the Year Award for third consecutive year

SPAR Italy, locally known as DESPAR Italia, has been recognised as Retailer of the Year 2022–2023. It is the third year in a row that the SPAR Brand has achieved this prestigious recognition in Italy. To celebrate this important milestone, DESPAR Italia has launched a comprehensive social media and instore campaign.

The Retailer of the Year Award initiative, promoted by Q&A Research Italia srl, was awarded in November 2022 and saw 550 brands competing on specific criteria such as assortment, customer service, shopping convenience, price, appearance, expertise, and information. With an overall average score of 3.94, on a scale of 1 to 5, DESPAR Italia scored above the category average in all aspects evaluated, including price, assortment, hospitality, competence, ease of purchase, and appearance.

The Retailer of the Year Award started in 2003 in the Netherlands, as an initiative of Q&A Insights Europe BV, a research and consultancy firm. In Italy, the award was launched in 2008 and is known as ‘Insegna dell’anno’.

“The recognition received confirms the strong link between the SPAR brand and its customers and rewards the courtesy, professionalism, and competence of the people who work in our shops”, commented DESPAR Italia Marketing Manager, Obretta Putzu. “It is an opportunity to further strengthen customer loyalty and tell the story of the quality of service provided every day to all customers”, she added.

Instore campaign to celebrate the award

To celebrate this important milestone, DESPAR Italyia has launched a social and instore campaign that will be rolled out at different times, from now until October 2023. DESPAR Italia celebrated this third win of this prestigious award with a multi-platform announcement.

Utilising the word triple, the campaign highlights topics such as product quality, staff friendliness, and shopping convenience, features for which customers selected SPAR as their favourite supermarket.

The campaign features a video showing SPAR employees in recognition of all the colleagues who have made the award possible. The video is viewed on a variety of popular platforms, reaching diverse audiences.

Furthermore, the over 1,400 SPAR stores throughout Italy will air an instore radio message and communicate the milestone win both externally and internally.
