The association “Mi Hijo y Yo” (“My Child and I”) was founded in 2014 and has established itself as a leading organisation providing comprehensive support to families with children with autism.
SPAR Gran Canaria has recently reaffirmed its support for the association with the opening of the Casa de Mi Hijo y Yo (My Child and I House). This new space is designed to provide support and care for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD) and for their families.
The opening of this new centre symbolises the stable collaborative relationship that SPAR Gran Canaria has maintained with the association for years. This progress also consolidates the growth of a comprehensive care model aimed at families and children in vulnerable situations.
The Director of Corporate Social Responsibility and Communication, Yubi Cisneros, highlighted the importance of collaboration and how necessary it is to local communities: “When you witness firsthand the daily work they do with families, you understand the importance of having ongoing support.” She also pointed out that initiatives like this “help create real opportunities for many young people, as well as offering support to families during what are often particularly challenging times.”
SPAR Gran Canaria is once again joining the Las Palmas Food Bank’s Spring Food Drive, carrying the slogan “With Your Help, We Give Our All”. 182 SPAR stores across the supermarket chain provided an opportunity for customers to donate food. SPAR Gran Canaria employees can also make their contributions directly at their workplaces and support the cause.
In 2025, SPAR Gran Canaria collected more than 25.1 tonnes of food through the Spring Food Drive, reaching a total of over 48 tonnes donated to the Las Palmas Food Bank throughout the year. This year, the aim is to surpass these results and continue strengthening its social commitment, promoting solidarity with its customers for the benefit of those most in need.
Overall, SPAR Gran Canaria continues to demonstrate its dedication to improving the quality of life and fostering solidarity on the island.

SPAR Spain was founded in 1959 when a group of wholesalers who wished to join an international organisation came together. As a result, the brand became the first voluntary trading chain to be established in Spain, having been granted a license by SPAR International. Together, regional SPAR wholesalers continue to actively expand the brand across the country.
