SPAR China partner in Shandong collaborated with Hengan Group and Kowloon City Shopping Plaza on a tree planting initiative combining over 3,000 volunteers.

On March 17, a large scale imitative called “Get Close to Nature, Feel the Softness” took place in Kowloon City, Weihai. The initiative was developed by SPAR Shandong Jiajiayue Group, Hengan Group and Kowloon City Shopping Plaza, receiving strong support from the Songcun Town Government of Wendeng District. The event aims to enhance the public’s awareness of environmental protection and promote a low-carbon, energy-saving and green lifestyle.

3,000+ tree planting volunteers

Over 3,000 volunteers gathered at the north gate of the Kowloon City Shopping Plaza, before traveling to Xiaxu Village in Weihai, to plant trees. Many families participated in the tree planting. Parents and children worked together on digging and cultivating soil, planting and watering the seedlings. The children also hung wish cards on the small trees.

At the end of the day, the volunteers returned to Kowloon City where they were thanked with gifts such as plant seeds. Various activities and cultural performances were held onsite celebrating the successful initiative. SPAR Shandong has held tree-planting initiatives for many years, enabling children and adults to contribute to environmental protection and work together to create a better future.

Tree-planting initiatives abound within SPAR and we continue to track the successful programmes from around the globe.

About SPAR China

SPAR was introduced to China in 2004 with the signing of the license agreement for Shandong province, followed by the addition of more partners. The privately-owned retail chains licensed to operate SPAR have a cooperative relationship. As a result, this partnership aligns with the original SPAR mission of working together to reduce costs, maximise sales, and increase profits.
