Over the next few months, SPAR Austria will donate the proceeds from the sale of butterfly shaped breads in INTERSPAR Hypermarkets to the charitable aid organisation, DEBRA, which supports children suffering from the incurable skin disease, Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB). Those born with EB are often called ‘butterfly children’ as their skin is as sensitive as the wings of a butterfly.

The partnership between INTERSPAR and DEBRA Austria has existed for twelve years. During this time, an amount of €418,500 has been raised for the organisation. INTERSPAR customers in Austria are always extremely supportive of this initiative and last year alone €46,000 was donated.

Markus Kaser, Managing Director of INTERSPAR Austria, commented on the continued success of the campaign saying: “This urgently needed help for the ‘butterfly children’ is only possible through the commitment of our customers.”

This is just one of the many charities which receive support from the SPAR Austria organisation.
