The final edition of Contact International for 2018 is now out. In this issue, we reflect on what has been another strong year for the SPAR worldwide business with ongoing expansion, development and innovation across our network.

We start by reporting on the outstanding inaugural European Championships. A multi-sport event that took place in both Glasgow and Berlin, SPAR was proud to be the exclusive cross-Championships sponsor. It was a fantastic 11 days that generated massive brand exposure.

Next, we announce the successful opening of SPAR in Cyprus, the latest in a series of three Southern European countries to welcome the brand this year. We also include a number of people-focused features that reflect how valuable and valued our 350,000 SPAR colleagues worldwide are. We look back at the 2018 Future Leaders Programme, share the experiences of three young independent SPAR retailers in the Netherlands, and feature an interview with 2018 FMI Store Manager of the Year winner, Joanne Walker, from SPAR in Northern Ireland. We conclude our people focus with a story of family and entrepreneurship from SPAR Poland.

Finally, we turn our attention to our Responsible Retailing work, addressing the key global issue of plastic waste and sharing the steps being taken by SPAR Partners to tackle this growing environmental problem.
