NorgesGruppen AS was granted by SPAR International the licence to operate the brand in Norway in 1984 and opened the company SPAR Norway which operates company-owned stores. The company supports sub-licensed independent retailers trading under EUROSPAR and SPAR formats, expanding the brand presence across the country. In February 2013, NorgesGruppen purchased 49% of the Danish retail company Dagrofa Group, the licenced operator of the SPAR Brand in Denmark.
