Two SPAR Guangdong stores named among best stores in China

September 28, 2022 IN THE CATEGORY: Awards and prizes

At this year’s Linkshop Conference in China, two SPAR stores operated by regional partner SPAR Jiarong were listed among ‘China’s best stores’. The SPAR operator, headquartered in Guangdong, also won the 2021 Marketing Innovation Award at this conference. These awards are a solid testament to SPAR’s continuous breakthroughs in improving shopping experiences and innovative business models.

The first store is located in Dongguan city’s first TOD commercial complex. Since its opening in May 2021, the store has continuously focused on the shopping environment, products, and customer experience. The store’s assortment includes imported and domestic products across various categories. New domestic products account for 28.4%, subverting the traditional supermarket product mix.

To boost its omnichannel development strategy and build an efficient and convenient online platform, the store synchronises with multiple e-commerce platforms such as JD Daojia, Duodian, and Ele.me.

The second SPAR store, SPAR Xiban Supermarket Feilishan Branch, is a 272m2 neighbourhood store offering over 4,900 SKUs. To present a better consumer experience, the Feilishan store was renovated and upgraded in 2021. The store has implemented convenient and intelligent digital applications, such as intelligent visual recognition electronic scales, which realise rapid pricing and save labour costs.

About SPAR China

SPAR was introduced to China in 2004 with the signing of the licence agreement for Shandong province, followed by the addition of more partners. The privately-owned retail chains licensed to operate SPAR have a cooperative relationship.

As a result, this partnership aligns with the original SPAR mission of working together to reduce costs, maximise sales, and increase profits. The SPAR China Partners are part of a leading international group but maintain 100% local ownership.
